Helios offers IV (intravenous) vitamin and mineral therapy for a number of medical indications. The most common IV we administer is called a Modified Meyers, with slight variations of the ingredients depending on the patient’s medical concern. The name comes from an IV developed by Maryland physician John Myers 30 years ago.
Meyers IV’s contain Magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, and Vitamin C. Magnesium is important to many cellular functions, including energy production and cellular replication. When magnesium is low, energy levels are low. Vitamin C is required for tissue growth and repair, promotes healing of wounds, and is a potent antioxidant. IV administration gives a higher blood concentrations of these vitamins and minerals than taking them orally would, so that more of the components reach the cells.
These IV’s are helpful for people with a variety of conditions, including fatigue, fibromyalgia, asthma, low magnesium levels, adrenal fatigue, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivities, and migraine headaches. For acute viral symptoms, or viral conditions such as West Nile Virus, we often increase the amount of Vitamin C in the IV, since Vitamin C is an effective antiviral agent.
